What did you do before you joined SIB?
Before joining SIB, I was a qualified Chartered Accountant and CFA level II candidate. I had worked at a mid sized firm during my articleship and was exposed to many facets of audit and tax. Post qualification, I worked with ICICI Bank in their SME lending team.
How did you decide to join SIB's full time investment banking course?
After having experience in various fields like audit, taxation & finance during my articleship, I realized that I had a passion for finance and aspired to work in mainstream finance. However, I did not get the breakthrough into investment banking since I wasn't u201cjob readyu201d. I had hoped that post the CA qualification and CFA level 1, I would be able to break through into the investment banking industry on my own. But this was not to be and I realized that trying to break in on my own would take a lot of time. When I learned about the course that SIB was offering, I found it to be perfect since it was exactly in line with my needs and expectations. For a while, I had been looking for ways to bridge the gap between my theoretical knowledge and practical requirements of the industry. In addition, a friend of mine who is an alumni of SIB provided very good feedback and referred me.
Do you feel you took the right decision by joining SIB?
I think investing in SIB, turned out to be a great decision in the end. I noticed the importance of SIB's value addition, when I was able to respond to highly technical interview questions with ease. This is surely something I would not have been able to do without the benefit of SIB's practical training. The placement in the end summed it all up!
What was the best part of training at SIB?
The experienced faculty, excellent delivery and practical application of all concepts with many real life deal examples was the best thing about SIB. Equally crucial were the class discussions on global events and finance, every day. Through this, I was able to inculcate a very good habit of reading newspapers, being aware of current affairs and ultimately this had a role in placements success.
